Galvanized Steel Water Storage Tank

A galvanized steel water tank is a water storage device constructed from galvanized steel plates, primarily used for storing domestic water, fire water, or industrial water. Its main components include galvanized steel panels, a supporting framework, sealing rings, and pipe interfaces. The steel plates undergo hot-dip galvanizing treatment to effectively prevent corrosion, extending the tank's service life to over 15 years.

The tank's design features a closed system that prevents impurities and contaminants from entering, ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the stored water. Water is stored and transported via inlet and outlet pipes, while a multi-layer protective structure maintains the tank's integrity. High-strength bolts securely connect each panel, and premium sealing rings ensure tight seals at joints. Additionally, dust-proof devices and controllable valves at the water inlet and outlet prevent external pollutants from entering.

Corrosion Resistance

Galvanized steel water tanks undergo a hot-dip galvanizing process that coats the steel plates with a zinc layer typically 60–80 microns thick. This zinc coating acts as a sacrificial barrier-if the surface is scratched or damaged, the zinc preferentially oxidizes to protect the underlying steel from corrosion. This makes the tanks highly durable in environments with high humidity or strong acidic and alkaline conditions, ideal for long-term water storage. They are commonly used in fire protection systems and industrial water reserves.

High Strength

Constructed from high-quality steel plates with tensile strength usually exceeding 250 MPa, galvanized steel water tanks resist deformation and cracking even under heavy water loads. Their modular design uses standardized panels joined by bolts, forming a robust structure with enhanced compressive resistance. This design helps the tanks withstand extreme conditions such as earthquakes and strong winds without structural damage.

Easy Installation

The modular design simplifies installation. Prefabricated galvanized steel panels, standardized with uniform sizes and bolt holes, are easily assembled on-site. Since these components are factory-cut, punched, and galvanized, installation involves simply splicing, securing, and sealing the panels according to design drawings. Unlike concrete tanks, galvanized steel tanks require no long curing periods and can be assembled and operational within days, reducing construction time and environmental impact.

Sealing

High-quality sealing rings made of aging-resistant rubber ensure excellent watertightness. Their elasticity allows them to fill small gaps and irregularities at panel joints, maintaining a tight seal. The sealing rings are designed to resist compression and retain their shape under fluctuating water pressures, preventing leaks even under sustained pressure of 0.6 MPa for 48 hours, complying with national standard GB/T 17219. This effective sealing prevents contamination from external impurities, preserving water hygiene and safety, especially important for potable water storage in residential and community settings.
